What is the Eastside?
The Eastside of Charleston is a historically African-American neighborhood of Charleston. It has gone by many names including .Hampstead Park and Little Mexico. The neighborhood contains the Cigar Factory, which was a cotton factory before that, and the Trident Techical College Palmer Campus, which sits in the building that used to be C.A. Brown High School. The Philip Simmons Foundation has also found a home in the Eastside of Charleston, preserving the legacy of his work and legacy.
